How to plan a multi-generational family holiday to Bequia that everyone will love

The most memorable family holidays are often the ones that bring everyone together: grandparents sharing stories over dinner, children discovering the Caribbean for the first time and parents enjoying the rare opportunity to slow down.

At Bequia Beach Hotel, we believe travelling as a family should feel relaxed rather than complicated. Our beachfront setting, spacious accommodation and unhurried island atmosphere make it easy for different generations to holiday together while still enjoying the freedom to follow their own interests.

Set within ten acres of tropical gardens beside Friendship Bay, our family-owned hotel offers suites, cottages and private villas, along with swimming pools, restaurants, spa and wellness facilities, children’s activities and experiences throughout Bequia and the Grenadines.

Whether you are planning a milestone birthday, a family reunion or simply making up for lost time, here is how to create a multi-generational Bequia holiday everyone will remember.

Why Bequia Is Perfect for a Multi-Generational Holiday

Bequia offers something increasingly difficult to find: a Caribbean island that still feels intimate, personal and wonderfully unhurried.

Life here moves at a gentler pace. Families can spend the morning on the beach, wander through Port Elizabeth in the afternoon and return to Friendship Bay in time for sunset drinks and dinner.

The island is small enough to explore without long journeys, yet varied enough to keep every generation interested. There are beaches and boat trips for adventurous younger guests, colourful shops and waterfront restaurants in Port Elizabeth, and plenty of quiet corners for anyone who simply wants to read, swim or enjoy the view.

Bequia is particularly well suited to families looking for beaches, time together and nature-based experiences rather than a large, high-energy resort environment. Children are welcome at Bequia Beach Hotel throughout the year.

Accommodation with personal space for all

The secret to a successful extended-family holiday is finding the right balance between togetherness and privacy.

Our range of rooms, suites and villas allows families to choose an arrangement that suits their size, needs, children’s ages and preferred level of independence.

Private Villas for all family sizes

Larger families can choose multiple rooms at the hotel or make one of our expansive private villas their home in Bequia.

The four-bedroom Estate Villa accommodates up to eight guests and includes a private infinity pool, generous reception room, wraparound terrace and views across the gardens and sea. The Palm Villa also provides four bedrooms, a kitchen, spacious indoor and outdoor living areas and its own private swimming pool.

For larger gatherings, Villa ONE at Grenadine Hills overlooks Friendship Bay and offers six en-suite bedrooms for up to 12 guests, extensive living space and a 35-foot infinity pool with a shallow child-friendly area, alternatively Coral Hill which is slightly smaller

The Rock Villa may also be reserved for exclusive use, offering eight bedrooms and accommodation for up to 16 guests. When hired exclusively, children are welcome, making it an exceptional setting for milestone celebrations and extended-family escapes.

Our reservations team can help recommend the most suitable room or villa arrangement according to your family’s size, mobility requirements and children’s ages.

Leave room for time together but never far apart

A multi-generational holiday does not need a tightly packed itinerary. In fact, the most enjoyable days often combine one shared experience with plenty of unstructured time.

Some members of the family might begin the morning with a swim or paddleboarding session, while others enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Bagatelle. Children can join an activity at the Kids Club as parents visit the spa, and everyone can meet again for lunch or an afternoon beside the pool.

This flexible rhythm allows each guest to enjoy Bequia in their own way without losing the sense of being on holiday together.

Spend Unhurried Days on Friendship Beach

Some days require no itinerary at all.

Our hotel sits directly beside Friendship Bay Beach, where guests can walk along the beach towards the Sand Bar, relax beneath a palapa or enjoy views across the water towards Mustique and the southern Grenadines.

Families can also choose between our seawater infinity pool and other pools around the property. Younger children can play while parents and grandparents settle into a lounger with a book or a cool drink.

For a change of scene, our daily guest shuttle makes it easy to visit Jack’s Beach Bar on Princess Margaret Beach, where families can enjoy calm water, relaxed beachfront dining and one of Bequia’s best-loved stretches of sand.

Sandy Toes

Explore the Grenadines aboard Sandy Toes

A day on the water is one of the most memorable experiences a family can share in Bequia.

Our private tour boat, Sandy Toes, offers opportunities to discover more of the Grenadine archipelago in comfort. Families can cruise around Bequia, visit Mustique or travel south towards the remarkable Tobago Cays for swimming, snorkelling and the chance to see marine life in its natural environment.

Private charters are especially well suited to multi-generational groups because the day can be planned around your family. The pace, swimming stops and itinerary can be adapted according to children’s ages, individual interests and sea conditions.

For something gentler, a sunset cruise around Bequia brings everyone together for beautiful views and a fitting end to another island day.

Discover Bequia Together

Although it can be tempting to remain beside the pool, we always encourage guests to experience more of our island.

Port Elizabeth, Bequia’s small and colourful capital, is ideal for a relaxed family outing. Browse local shops, walk along the Belmont waterfront and watch yachts arriving in Admiralty Bay before stopping for an ice cream, lunch or drink.

Families can also explore the island by taxi, visit local craft and model-boat workshops or spend a few hours at Princess Margaret Beach and Lower Bay.

Our concierge team will be pleased to arrange transport, recommend age-appropriate outings and help design an island experience that works for the whole family.

Dining for Every Generation

Meals often become the heart of a family holiday. At Bequia Beach Hotel, our dining experiences range from relaxed beachside lunches to memorable evening celebrations.

Bagatelle

Located beside Friendship Bay, Bagatelle is our main restaurant and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from its open beachside verandas.

Its all-day dining, children’s menus and relaxed setting make it a natural gathering place for families, whether everyone meets for breakfast or comes together at the end of the day.

Blue Tropic

Nestled on the hillside, Blue Tropic combines Italian culinary traditions with the flavours and ingredients of Bequia. It offers a change of atmosphere for a special family dinner.

Jack’s Beach Bar

Jack’s brings together relaxed food, refreshments and the beautiful setting of Princess Margaret Beach. It is an excellent choice for an easy-going family lunch after swimming or exploring the island.

The Sand Bar

A short walk along Friendship Beach leads to The Sand Bar, where guests can enjoy cocktails, light bites and another peaceful perspective on the bay.

High chairs and children’s menus are available in our restaurants, and room service provides additional flexibility for early bedtimes or quieter evenings. Please let us know about allergies and dietary requirements before arrival so that our team can make the necessary arrangements.

Celebrate Life’s Important Moments

Bequia has a way of making special occasions feel even more meaningful.

A private villa can become the setting for a milestone birthday, anniversary or long-awaited reunion. Days can be spent together beside the pool, while evenings might include a celebratory dinner, a private barbecue or sunset drinks overlooking Friendship Bay.

Our team can assist with dining arrangements, excursions and the personal details that transform a family holiday into a genuine celebration.

The goal is not to fill every moment. It is to create a setting in which everyone can reconnect.

Bring the whole family to experience The Grenadines

A multi-generational holiday is a rare opportunity to pause everyday life and spend meaningful time together.

At Bequia Beach Hotel, families can share breakfast beside Friendship Bay, discover the Grenadines by boat and celebrate over a beach barbecue dinner before retreating to the privacy of their own rooms or villa.

There is room for adventure, room for rest and—most importantly—room for every generation to enjoy Bequia in its own way. Simply contact us and we can help to plan your dream getaway. We look forward to welcoming your family to our little corner of the Grenadines.
